About the Instructor

Katey Kintzer graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Animal Science. She has worked as a licensed Animal Health Technician at the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She also served on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at the Boston University Medical School. Katey currently teaches at Becker College where she has been an instructor in the Animal Care veterinary Science and Equine Management departments, teaching courses in training and behavior management for over ten years. She has been working as a clicker trainer and behavior consultant for variety of species for fifteen years and has trained and shown horses and dogs for forty years. Katey, her husband Peter, their two children along with their menagerie, live on a small farm in Sutton, Massachusetts.

Puppy Basics:
A six week class for puppies 10 to 24 weeks of age at the start of the class. Basic manners (sit, come, stay and down) will be introduced using positive reinforcement methods (clicker training). Puppy socialization will be included during the class as well as discussed about solving "puppy issues."

Fee: $150.00/ 6 weeks - Tuesdays 7:15 - 8:15 pm.

Family Dog 1:
A class designed to bring out the very best in your family dog by strengthening your relationship and improving communication. These classes are the foundation for a lifetime of good behavior, teaching your dog how to pay attention, greet politely, come when called, walk on a loose leash and other management skills using clicker training and agility exercises. For dogs age six months or older.

Fee: $150/ 6 weeks - Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

In- House Training:
Private sessions with your dog while he/ she is at TLC, boarding or daycare. A trainer will work with your dog individually on basic skills, behavior management and/ or reconditioning of unwanted behaviors. TLC staff will reinforce material covered while your dog is in their care. A private consultation is needed before sessions begin with the dog to identify your specific needs.
